Felicity Hammond
Art Rotterdam – 2017

For Art Rotterdam 2017 the gallery is delighted to present a solo booth by London-based artist Felicity Hammond. Using stolen ballast from local sites of luxury development and the raw materials associated with construction and regeneration, Hammond’s work addresses the complex make-up of the urban fabric. She uses a language that has become commonplace within the narrative of urban renewal, and her photographic work adopts the pastel hues and image-making methodologies used to describe the proclaimed opulence of city-living. However, rather than the sun-kissed fantasy described by urban developers, the viewer is invited into a world which anticipates them in ruin.
